FORUM

We are in urgent need of donations of furniture, appliances, utensils and bedding surplus to your needs.

In the past, thanks to inadequate and unreliable 'public transport', our patrol vehicles had to transport our police reservists to and from Southbroom as they came on and off duty.

In order to minimise patrol vehicle 'down-time', it was decided to accommodate our on-duty reservists locally.  To this end, we have rented the Roads Department house at Southbroom North intersection, on your left as you turn into Southbroom at the robots.

We took occupation today and have purchased 10 beds. If possible, please assist us with the balance of the furnishing.  All donations will be gratefully received.

PUBLIC MEETINGS TO BE CALLED IN SOUTHBROOM

It is with regret that we advise that the SAPS public meeting at the Uvongo Town Hall on 22 February 2007 was very poorly attended.

Deducting the police presence from the +/- 110 attendance and those members of the public that represented formal community policing structures, it is safe to say that no more than 60 residents of the Hibiscus Coast bothered to attend. Less than 4 were from Southbroom.  A sad show when crime is supposedly top of mind.

The newly restructured police force is wanting to serve us and achieve meaningful results.  For them to do this effectively, they need the support and co-operation of the Southbroom community.

Southbroom CPF will request that Director Moodley, Senior Superintendent Govender and Superintendent Kader address a public meeting in Southbroom.  We will also be arranging a Domestic Worker's Forum.  Details of these two meetings will be communicated in our next bulletin and also in the local press.

We urge ratepayers and residents to become involved.  Please attend the meeting and interact with SAPS at top level.  Please also ensure that your domestic workers attend their meetings.
